Between artificial intelligence, climate, traceability, and supply chains, the Web Summit Rio 2026 offered an interesting perspective on the paths being built for the future of food systems.
ESGpec participated in the event as an Impact Startup, was part of the Startup Showcase, and was present in the ALPHA area showcasing its solutions for sustainability in the dairy supply chain.
More than just a networking opportunity, the experience allowed us to observe trends that help us understand where innovation, sustainability, and global agribusiness are heading.
An event that goes far beyond technology.
Web Summit Rio brought together startups, investors, large companies, and leaders from various sectors to discuss the challenges and opportunities that will shape the next decade.
Although artificial intelligence has been the most prevalent theme in virtually all areas, a closer analysis reveals an even more interesting trend: the growing importance of data as an infrastructure for decision-making.
Observing the startups in the Agritech & Foodtech and Sustainability & Cleantech categories, it became evident that innovation has shifted its focus from solely creating new products to generating reliable, verifiable, and actionable information.
Sustainability is ceasing to be just talk and becoming a reality.
Perhaps the main takeaway from the event is that sustainability is changing in nature. For many years, the conversation has focused on commitments, goals, and narratives. Today, the discussion revolves around more objective questions:
How to measure?
How to check?
How do you demonstrate results?
How can we connect corporate commitments to what happens within supply chains?
In various sectors, startups are emerging working with traceability, monitoring, auditing, regulatory compliance, risk intelligence, and impact measurement. Sustainability is transforming into a matter of data infrastructure.
The advancement of traceability and supply chain intelligence.
Another recurring theme was traceability. Several startups presented solutions focused on transparency in production chains, environmental monitoring, due diligence, and risk management.
The movement is driven by ever-increasing demands related to Scope 3 emissions, international regulations, and market requirements. Producing is no longer enough. It will become increasingly necessary to demonstrate how production is done.
And where does agriculture fit in?
Despite the strong presence of solutions for climate, carbon, ESG, and traceability, the relatively small number of startups focused directly on livestock and animal production was noteworthy.
This reinforces an important perception. There is enormous scope for solutions that connect sustainability, data, and food production in a practical and scalable way.
ESGpec's participation
It was in this context that ESGpec presented its vision during the Startup Showcase at Web Summit Rio. In a two-minute presentation, CEO and co-founder Bruna Silper highlighted one of the main challenges currently faced by food supply chains.
Companies have increasingly ambitious sustainability goals, commitments, and objectives. The challenge is not in defining these goals. The challenge lies in demonstrating the results achieved.
According to Bruna: "Without measurement, there is no management. Without management, there is no proven improvement. And without proven improvement, there is no transition to sustainable food chains."
ESGpec operates precisely in this area. Through a digital platform based on science and auditable data, the company allows industries, cooperatives, and organizations to monitor indicators such as carbon footprint, animal welfare, and ESG performance throughout the production chain.
Currently, the projects developed by the company already reach more than 1,000 producers distributed across 11 Brazilian states, representing approximately 800 million kilograms of milk monitored per year.
Highlights from ESGpec's participation in Web Summit Rio 2026: from arriving at the event and connecting with the innovation ecosystem to CEO Bruna Silper's presentation at the Startup Showcase, platform demonstrations at the ALPHA area booth, and meetings with entrepreneurs from Tríade Women in Tech. An experience marked by learning, collaboration, and discussions about the future of sustainability, data, and food systems.
The future will be built on reliable data.
At the end of the three-day event, one conclusion became clear: the most promising startups are not just creating new technologies; they are building systems capable of transforming data into trust.
If there's one message that Web Summit Rio 2026 left for agribusiness and food systems, it's this: The future of sustainability will not be defined by promises. It will be defined by the ability to measure, verify, and demonstrate real results throughout the production chains. And that transformation has already begun.
