We are a community united by a vision: the comprehensive application of sustainability concepts in livestock farming, through the co-creation of solutions for continuous development and positive transformations in livestock farming. Our focus is on holistic actions, guided by the principles of integration and balance for the benefit of biodiversity.

We believe that livestock farming plays a fundamental role in global food security, while recognizing the environmental and ethical challenges that permeate the sector. Together, we are committed to promoting regenerative practices that promote animal welfare and are aligned with ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) principles.

We work to awaken a regenerative consciousness by implementing subtle technology concepts. We provide user-friendly, easy-to-use interfaces so that rural properties can generate voluntary scores related to animal welfare and the application of sustainable and regenerative practices, in addition to calculating indicators related to greenhouse gas emissions, such as the intensity of enteric methane emissions and the carbon footprint of the activity.

We are aware of the demand for products anchored in values such as ethics and sustainability, and the urgency surrounding climate change. Therefore, we ultimately work to provide information that enables decision-making based on principles and structured information. Community-driven knowledge generation that reaches investors, industry, consumers, and other stakeholders can facilitate knowledge-based choices to promote sustainability.

Development with engagement: much more than a set of tools, with the REGENERATIVE AWAKENING project we are starting a community of change agents who want to contribute to a better future and the evolution of livestock farming, promoting collaboration, dialogue and innovation so that, together, we can achieve common goals.

BEA Score

With the BEA Score, the situation diagnosis and paths for improvement are at the fingertips of producers and technicians. The score ranges from 0 to 10, and the higher the score, the greater the farm's attention to the five freedoms of animal welfare: freedom from thirst, hunger, or malnutrition; freedom from discomfort; freedom from pain and disease; freedom to express natural behaviors; and freedom from fear and stress.

NUTRITION

Freedom from hunger, thirst and malnutrition

Easy access to fresh water and food capable of maintaining health and vigor.

The provision of food and water is essential to ensure health and well-being.

ENVIRONMENT

Discomfort-free

Provide a suitable environment, including shelter and a comfortable resting place. Environmental resources are connected to both humans and animals. Adequate housing for animals improves their well-being and coexistence with humans.

HEALTH

Freedom from pain, injury and disease

Prevention, rapid diagnosis, and treatment. Improved animal welfare supports better immunity, with positive impacts on productivity, reduced antimicrobial use, and increased productive longevity. Sick and/or painful animals may exhibit undesirable behaviors, negatively impacting animal-human interactions.

BEHAVIOR

Free to express your natural behaviors

Provide sufficient space, adequate facilities and the company of other animals of the same species.

Animals free from behavioral disorders will have better relationships with the humans they interact with.

MENTAL STATE

Free from fear and stress

Conditions for preventing mental suffering. Nonviolent animal handling promotes better societies and helps prevent violence and human abuse.

PRE-CARBON SCORE

Diagnosis

Diagnosis of the availability of essential data for calculating the carbon footprint. During the process, the producer or technician learns the necessary data for the calculation. At the end, they have access to the farm's Pre-Carbon Score, which indicates the farm's readiness for footprint calculation. In other words, the result indicates maturity in terms of accessibility and organization of the necessary information. The score ranges from 0 to 10, and the higher the score, the more prepared the farm is for having its carbon footprint calculated.

ENTERIC METHANE

Emission intensity

Calculates the estimated intensity of enteric methane emissions per kilogram of milk produced (g CH4/kg of milk corrected for fat and protein). Enteric methane production is part of the digestive process of ruminant herbivores and occurs in the rumen, being the main source of methane from livestock activity. The more productive and efficient the farm, the lower the intensity of enteric methane emissions.

CARBON FOOTPRINT

Life Cycle Analysis

This indicator represents the total greenhouse gases (GHG; CO2, CH4, N2O), corrected for carbon equivalents according to their global warming potential, using AR6 (IPCC Sixth Assessment Report for GHG GWP) as a reference calculation.
The carbon footprint of milk production refers to the total greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions associated with milk production, including emissions from system management plus emissions from inputs used. Emissions associated with transportation to the dairy, industrialization, bottling, and marketing processes are not included in the footprint calculation.

ESG Farm Score

The ESG Farm Score allows for a diagnosis of engagement with sustainable practices, based on 11 criteria listed by the Dairy Sustainability Framework. The score ranges from 0 to 10, and the higher the score, the greater the application of sustainable practices on the farm.

GREENHOUSE GASES

Carbon footprint calculation

The macro indicator of the first key sustainability criterion is to quantify and reduce GHG emissions through the use of economically viable mechanisms. This phase may include the calculation of the carbon footprint, the enteric methane intensity, or the Pre-Carbon Score.

SOIL NUTRIENTS

Soil fertility management

The macro indicator for the second key sustainability criterion is managing nutrient application to minimize impacts on water and air while maintaining or improving soil quality. On the farm, this is related to the use of a soil management program.

SOIL - QUALITY AND RETENTION

Productivity optimization

The macro indicator for the third key sustainability criterion is to proactively manage and improve soil quality and retention to ensure optimal productivity. At the farm level, this relates to the implementation of a soil quality program.

WATER

Availability and quality

The macro indicator of the 4th key sustainability criterion is responsibly managing both water availability and quality. For farms, this refers to the adoption of an effluent management plan.

BIODIVERSITY

Richness and variety

The macro indicator of the 5th key sustainability criterion is understanding the direct and indirect risks and opportunities for biodiversity and establishing strategies to preserve or enhance it. On the farm, this is related to the implementation of a specific plan.

WORKING CONDITIONS

Property security

The macro indicator of the 6th key sustainability criterion is that workers work in a safe environment and that their rights are respected and promoted. In the field, this refers to the existence of a worker safety program or plan.

ANIMAL CARE

Animal welfare

The macro indicator of the 7th key sustainability criterion is respecting the 5 freedoms of animal welfare (AW).

WASTE

Management, waste, quantification and recycling

The macro indicator of the 8th key sustainability criterion is to minimize waste generation and, for what cannot be avoided, implement processes that allow for reuse and recycling. On rural properties, this is related to waste management programs and proper disposal.

MARKET

Development

The macro indicator of the 9th key sustainability criterion is the ability to build economically viable businesses through the development of transparent and effective markets. For producers, this refers to access to information about market opportunities and trends.

RURAL ECONOMY

Economic viability

The macro indicator of the 10th key sustainability criterion is the rural property's contribution to the economic viability of dairy farming. At the farm level, it is related to annual gross revenue and the compensation of employees and service providers.

PRODUCT

Safety and Quality

The macro indicator for the 11th key sustainability criterion is to safeguard the integrity and transparency of the supply chain to ensure product quality and safety. At the farm level, this indicator is related to good manufacturing practices and milk quality monitoring.
