Sustainability in milk: what does the Top 100 Milkpoint/Abraleite reveal?

Top 100

Introduction: Produce more, communicate better

In this video, Bruna Silper, co-founder of ESGpec, shares insights into advances in sustainability in livestock farming, based on an analysis of the most recent survey conducted by MilkPoint and Abraleite.

The Top 100 Largest Milk Producers in Brazil – 2025 Edition revealed that the largest producers have been growing, on average, 13% per year . But, beyond the increase in volume, the report—which consolidates data from 2024—points to clear signs of a new era in livestock farming: the pursuit of sustainability is no longer an exception but a trend among industry leaders.

Sustainable practices are growing — but still underutilized

According to the data, most of the Top 100 farms already adopt some sustainable practice, such as:

  • Waste management for fertilization

  • Use of bioinputs

  • Implementation of crop rotation and direct planting

These practices are helping to build a more efficient model aligned with market demands. However, there are significant bottlenecks: less than 40% of producers use manure to generate biogas, and crop-livestock integration, once more common, has lost ground—despite being a highly effective strategy for regenerating soil and improving farm performance.

The importance of measuring, proving and communicating

With the market increasingly demanding traceability, governance, and positive impact, dairy farming needs to clearly demonstrate what it already does. And that requires data.

Tools like the ESG Farm Score , developed by ESGpec, help producers:

  • Measure your sustainable practices

  • Generate reliable technical reports

  • Attract investments and certifications

The ESG Farm Score transforms best practices into concrete indicators—and, in doing so, strengthens the image of Brazilian milk in the national and international markets.

Conclusion: Growth with Purpose

Milk production in Brazil is growing. But the real difference lies in how this growth occurs. Sustainability, animal welfare, and social responsibility are no longer adjectives—they're becoming nouns in the new livestock industry.

By measuring their practices and communicating their results, producers better position themselves, attract new markets, and build a positive legacy.

💡 Producing more is important. Producing with a positive impact is essential for the future.

The ESG Farm Score, developed by ESGpec, is available free of charge to farmers through the Despertar Regenerativo project. The initiative also offers other practical and accessible resources—such as PEC Calc, BEA Score, and Pré Carbon Score—that help measure and can be essential for planning and communicating sustainability on dairy farms, connecting farm data with new market demands.
